Betapak's Environmental Policy

Betapak will strive to find continuous improvements to minimise its impact on the environment, and ensure sustainability of all aspects of its operations.

Betapak will leverage its "... BECAUSE TIME IS MONEY" promise to offer maximum efficiency in getting products to the Isle of Wight and optimal distribution ON the Isle of Wight.

Specific action will be undertaken in the following areas:

Transport

  • encourage customers to source locally on the Isle of Wight to minimise product miles
  • combine deliveries across all product ranges, to reduce the number of vans on the road
  • utilise state of the art software to efficiently plan deliveries and reduce wasted miles
  • ensure appropriate size of van is used for each delivery to minimise fuel consumption
  • regular servicing of vans to minimise emissions

Recycling

  • all cardboard and polythene material (90% of all waste) will be sorted for recycling
  • develop new routes to return post-use pallets to ensure re-use
  • metal waste will be taken to a recycling facility
  • continue to seek out recycling opportunities for the balance of waste material

Minimising Waste

  • encourage recycling as far as possible
  • ensure protective packaging is minimised by optimising distribution channels

Efficient Use of Water and Energy

  • occupancy sensors on warehouse lighting
  • solar panels on premises occupied by Betapak
  • low energy lighting

Use of Chemicals, CFCs and Harmful Substances

  • no harmful products (chemicals, CFCs, ozone-depleting substances, solvents, paints etc.) will be used where suitable environmentally-friendly alternatives exist

Sustainable Timber

  • all wood-based products will be sourced from sustainable supplies

Working With Customers

  • offer a choice of environmentally friendly products as alternatives to traditional ranges
  • carry full information to help customers choose suitable low environmental impact products
  • work closely with customers to help them meet their own environmental policy goals
